| Blues Lead Guitar Study 1. The focus of Blues Lead Guitar Study 1 is on the minor pentatonic scale. This is the work horse of guitar scales. This is the one which is most heard and most widely used. The study discusses soloing concepts and encourages the student to be creative with what they learn. There are several pages of technique and dexterity exercises applied to the scale. That is followed by the discussion of the theoretical composition of the scale. That is followed by examples of classic blues riffs, an explanation of how to remember them, and how to use them in a blues progression.
