The course, Moving Toward Great Guitar Playing, is a correspondence course for the beginning and intermediate guitar player.
This is an introductory and pretheory course. The complete course will take you through the basics and fundamentals of guitar playing and prepare you for advanced music theory and composition. The course is divided into 6 stages. Each stage consists of literature, practice pages, and CD/tape. The purpose of each stage, and the entire course, is more for understanding, communicating, instruction, and improving skills rather than for the sake of just performing a few songs. In other words, along with the information that will help you understand any chart, there is a regimen of what to practice and how to practice which will help you maximize the benefits you get from your practice time. The course is designed to be studied in conjunction with Supplementary Lessons. For example, if you are working on Stage 1 and you are interested in blues guitar, you might consider Blues Guitar Grooves Study 1 as a Supplementary Lesson. The supplementary studies are rated by "Stage Level" in the Supplementary Glossary . |
