| Modal and Solo Composition Course for Guitar Players
|
| The Modal and Solo Composition Course for Guitar Players presents methods for developing ideas and explains how to originate creative ideas using modes. Special emphasis is on encouraging the student to develop their own unique style of playing through the exploration of various composition methods. The course teaches the student a method to organize their ideas and then re-present those ideas in an unlimited variety of creative ways. For advanced and professional guitarists, the course offers a new approach to solo composition as well as being a technical workout for their skills. |
| The Modal and Solo Composition Course for Guitar Players is an advanced course and it is recommended that the student have a strong grip on chord formula theory and key signatures. Each mode is broken down and studied individually as to how it is used, when it is used, how to recognize it, and so forth. Methods of how to compose original, innovative solos are presented in a way that allows the student to actually get involved and participate in the creation of each solo. |
| Each book has numerous exercises for developing technical skills along with the theoretical knowledge of how to use modes effectively. Students apply solo composition methods to a variety of rhythms and styles. (Jazz, blues, rock, country, pop, Reggae, Latin, metal, alternative.) |
| Each book has many examples of chord scales, pattern riffs, rapid fire riffs, dexterity exercises, and written exercises. Everything is explained in explicit detail and also demonstrated on CD/tape. Written exercises are to be returned to the Jim Sutton Institute of Guitar to be checked, graded, comments made where necessary and responses made to any questions the student may have. The studies are then returned to the student. If a student has a question while working on the course, they are encouraged to call or email for help or collaboration. A certificate is issued upon successful completion of the course. |
| The Modal and Solo Composition Course for Guitar Players puts it all together. |
