| Jazz Guitar Studies
|
| Jazz Guitar Studies are currently done on an individual student basis. The studies fall into two categories. 1) Jazz Guitar Song Studies and 2) Jazz Guitar Solo Writing/Improvisation Development. |
| Jazz Guitar Song Studies are usually requested instrumental arrangements based on melody. These studies follow the same format as the Supplementary Lessons titled "Personalized Song Study or Request" and arrangements are geared toward the student's current skill level. |
| Jazz Guitar Solo Writing/Improvisation Development is based around analyzing chord progressions and working solo ideas within that particular harmonic progression. This will be comparable to a standard jazz combo format where a melody is played and then the various instruments take turns soloing over whatever harmonic progression is established. |

| Jazz Guitar Solo Composition Series |
| Jazz Guitar Solo Composition Study 1 Advanced Soloing Concepts is an advanced study which incorporates ideas from many music fields and styles. This is the first in a series of studies which examine solo composition and improvisation against jazz chord progressions. The student should have knowledge of the cage system, (knowing your way around the neck of the guitar,) key centers, and chord theory. Dexterity skills are important as well since there are no restrictions put on the level of difficulty. |
| In Jazz Guitar Solo Composition Study 1, the solo is approached and explained from 3 different composition and improvisation methods. The study includes exercises which allow the student to develop their own solos using these methods. |
